We’re excited to announce a brand-new game for Sonic the Hedgehog! Sonic Colors is a high speed action-adventure in which Sonic races through theme park-inspired worlds to rescue a colorful alien race from the clutches of Dr. Eggman. An extraordinary amusement park has been seen orbiting around the home planet of Sonic the Hedgehog, and rumors are spreading that an alien race of Wisps, who have a unique colorful energy, are being held captive there by the evil Dr. Eggman. Soon after arriving at the amusement park, Sonic discovers he is able to use these mysterious alien forces to help the Wisps escape!

Sonic Colors will be available on the Wii and the Nintendo DS around holiday 2010. Sonic Colors for the Wii seamlessly combines both 3D and classic 2D game play perspectives, while the Nintendo DS version takes full advantage of the console’s dual screen.

Sonic Colors sees Sonic accelerating to adrenaline-pumping super speeds and blasting through obstacles in ways never before seen in a Sonic game. The alien Wisps featured in the game each have a unique “Color Power” that, once freed, Sonic is able to absorb while speeding through the various theme park inspired planets. The Wisp energy enables Sonic to create new paths through the stages by drilling through the ground (Yellow Drill) for example, or speeding through the stage as a laser (Cyan Laser). Stringing the Wisp power-ups together creates a combo that increases Sonic’s boost gauge even more quickly. Exclusive Wisp power-ups will be available for both Wii and the Nintendo DS versions, ensuring a unique and super speedy gameplay experience for Sonic fans everywhere.

Well I was expecting some sort of new Sonic game seeing as Sonic 4 is a DLC game. but this idea is very unexpected. I wonder how this game will turn out.

I'll probably buy it but not the month it comes out. Maybe two moths or when the price drops THEN I'll buy it, but the game play might make me change my mind and buy it the same month it comes out :P
I'll have to see some footage or a video to somewhat rate the game.

I'm pretty intrigued. o.o

I actually have hope that it' gonna be a great Sonic game. Let's wait and see. :)

Though, I don't like how the alien things actually seem faster than Sonic in the trailer. That's just wrong. Sonic should always be the leading speed, rivaled only by Shadow at times. Got it memorized ?

Ehhh, I dunno. Either those wisp things are gonna break gameplay flow while you pick them up (if there are too many) and they'll become repetitive (if there are too few). But I'm not going to pass judgement until I see some actual gameplay footage and see how exactly the wisps are implemented in gameplay.

But it did mention switching between 3D and 2D gameplay in that article for the Wii version. If it's anything like Unleashed I'll probably give this one a pass.

Am I the only person who smells a repeat of the Flickie's Island storyline? :th_Question_Mark:

Notice how Tails was able to keep up with Sonic? That would only be possible if Sonic wasn't running at full speed.

The game looks...well, bright and colorful. That's enough to catch my interest!

Ok...now when I first say the title my thought was: "OMG! Why does this look so GAY!?"

BUT! When I read the description I was very, very intrigued by this news. I'm actually anticipating the gameplay and reading more info on this game. I do like the the whole Wisp and colors concept. It brings a more bright and upbeat look at Sonic and the game itself.

Eh. I'm not TOO thrilled by this yet, but that's just me. The prospect that this could turn out as another Unleashed Wii Daytime play syle is not too thrilling to me. However, the various color-skills might change that to be more interesting, not to mention, there's a chance that Tails might be playable (please let that be the case D: ).
