Well folks. Probably only a handful of you know about my current status in life. I have joined the Air Force. This will be my final week here on TSF and will be gone for a few months. Yes, I'm finally spreading my wings in search of adventure and tackling down life. I'm hoping to be stronger, a little smarter, and be a better person. So, I hope all well in your life as I transcend.

TSF's Malware & Error Free Grand Reopening

It's been a hectic week, for TSF goers and staff alike (Especially me). But despite everything that happened during downtime, here we are again, back and better than ever. So what the heck happened?

Explanation for the week long downtime

Originally the only problem we had to fix was a database and cache error on the forums. The error was a result of the recent IPB board update. There were a ton of security issues that caused TSF to fall under malware attack. So on top of having to fix errors, there was now the issue of going through tons of suspicious files on the server. Then there was the long process of cleaning files, deleting files, and waiting for clearance from Google which slowed down the process even more.

I had to inspect files, send a request to Google, then hope I managed to get all the infected files before the next malware check. If we didn't pass the malware review then the process would repeat again. This took about four days to do before we finally passed inspection. After Kona installed the latest IPB board update most of the errors were resolved as well. As it stands now, Kona and I are still waiting for a response from our server host.

So everything is fixed now right?

In a nutshell, everything should be resolved. We shouldn't have anymore malware alerts or posting errors on the forums. The keyword being shouldn't. The problem with clearing infected files on a server is that you wind up messing something else up in the process. I've ran multiple tests and haven't been able to find anything wrong so we should be okay.

Wait a minute! Where is the [insert name here]?

As I stated earlier, many files were infected and as a result a bunch of mods on the board had to be disabled. Most notably the Most Recent topics board face, the snow on the forums, and a few of the sidebars. They will more than likely be re-installed once they receive updates so they don't compromise our security once more.

You did good, kid.

Thanks, but I can't take all the credit. Well, yes I can.

	Spoiler

Kona, you deserve kudos as well, for your help with the license and update issues.

I'd also like to apologize to anyone who tried to contact me on Skype these past few days. I promise I wasn't ignoring ya'll I was just focused for a change.

Welcome back everyone.

It has come to my attention that a few of you are unable to post after the recent update this weekend. I just wanted to let you all know that Kona and I are currently hard at work solving the problem. We are not just sitting around drinking eggnog and cider while praying that the problem resolves itself.

I'll keep ya'll updated with what we find out.
